Making Waves Canada is a coordinating organization that oversees groups across Canada that are providing private, low-cost and adapted swimming/water safety instruction to children with varying disabilities. It is the largest student-run not-for-profit organization in Canada. ==Scope of activities== The organization's mandate is to provide services to children left behind by typical swimming lesson organizations. The management of each Making Waves chapter is undertaken by independent university student groups, each operating under the general guidance of Making Waves Canada. Since 2009, the organization has established itself in cities across the country and now offers over 9000 lessons per year. Making Waves Canada partners with NGOs around the world, sending trained instructors to develop swimming curricula and to increase awareness of and support for persons with disabilities. The second Annual General Meeting was held on June 22, 2014 at the University of Toronto.
